Hives for Heroes Australia, is a Nation-wide non-profit charity.
Our mentored bee keeping program is open to Veterans, First Responders, current and former service members.
With a focus on suicide prevention, sustainability, conservation, and providing a healthy transition from service, or support with continued service.
Beekeeping is very therapeutic, calming and healing for the soul. We will help equip you with an alternative for managing trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, reintegration, and other issues related to service.
Through our national network of beekeepers, local clubs and associations, we provide connection, mateship, purpose, mentored training and healthy relationships.
We will help you gain the necessary skills, to continue bee keeping as a hobby, small business or commercial operator.
We will reopen your eyes to the wonder of nature all around us.

About us
Hives for Heroes welcomes Veterans, active and ex service members and First Responders who have limited or no beekeeping experience. Wishing to explore beekeeping, cultivate healthy relationships, and actively participate in the organisation.
Our goal is to provide our nation’s heroes with a local mentor whilst supporting through regular events, resources, and application based funding opportunities as a “Newbee”.
We are big about suicide prevention and the reconnection of brother- sister hood community, often lost after service.
A Hives for Heroes “mentor” commits to guiding at least one hero for a duration of one year and exemplifies the values and mission of Hives for Heroes. The mentor will provide one hive specifically for training and educational purposes during the initial year, and will generously donate one split or swarm to Newbees who successfully complete their first year in the program. To qualify for this role, the mentor should possess three or more years of proven and successful experience in beekeeping.
Our program was founded in Australia by Marc Webb and Richard Iveson. Adapted from the highly successful USA program, originally founded by Steve Jimenez, presenter of our site videos.
